These days, air travel is becoming more and more frequent, and it's growing all the time. Aircraft have to be operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and maintenance times at MROs have to be kept to a minimum. Some checks are carried out on engines and other essential parts, but the complete wheels must be dismantled and checked, including brake blocks, calipers and rims. To detect incipient cracks on rims, the Eddy Current technique is the quickest and easiest. That's why we're pleased to offer you the VEESCAN, an automatic rim crack detection device.

Automatic control

The Veescan H is capable of automatically checking aircraft rims (helicopters and airplanes). Using an automatic system, the rim is raised to inspection height, then centered and clamped by rotating it. The machine then moves a probe around the periphery to check 100% of the rim, including the beat seat, the tire's retention radius. The recommended probe frequency is 200kHz. The Veescan can test rims up to 900mm in diameter. For example, it takes only 5 minutes to check half a main gear rim on the A380. A remote control panel with touch screen and keyboard/mouse allows the user to position himself according to the machine layout.

Fault-finding system

The VeeScan works in conjunction with the AeroCheck + eddy current fault-finding device. The advantage of having the AeroCheck + in its own housing on the front of the machine, behind tough polycarbonate glass, means that the same unit can be used for manual inspection if required. This makes it possible to carry out crack detection or bore inspection via mini-rotor, or conductivity testing. The device transmits eddy current signals to the VeeScan PC, with all the benefits of the well-known AeroCheck+ features. The AeroCheck + does not control the movements of the VeeScan, but is used to program the probe settings. With the ability to pre-program the probe used on the VeeScan, the operator is able to guarantee that he is using the correct configuration for the current inspection. The AeroCheck + is an efficient, state-of-the-art unit that has been designed and built with the user in mind. With ease of use as one of its main priorities, we are convinced that the combination of the VeeScan with the AeroCheck + is the best solution for any aircraft rim inspection installation.

Control par excellence

The VeeScan control panel is a stand-alone unit to ensure safe inspection and offers unrivalled ease of use. This touch screen is used to program the inspection and control the VeeScan's moving parts via USB. It interacts with the AeroCheck + eddy current unit to display inspection signals. From the control panel, the user can export a PDF report of the inspection, including inspection parameters. The VeeScan is designed with a height and position-adjustable interface for operator comfort.
