Scanner MRUT

The MRUT scanner is used with the PowerBox H and generates medium-range guided waves (0.1-5m) to detect cracks or corrosion on unburied pipes or tank walls. The use of EMAT (Electro Magneto Acoustic Transducer) technology provides fast, couplant-free scanning and inspection of inaccessible areas from a fixed point.

Axial displacement

Axial displacement of the scanner will generate an ultrasonic wave guided around the tube in the circumferential direction to measure attenuation and/or variation in wave velocity caused by corroded areas, cracks or other defects. Ideal for inspecting pipes on supports where the top of the pipe is accessible, or for inspecting tank walls at inspection speeds of up to 25 mm/s. Inspection can be carried out on rough, corroded or coated surfaces of up to 1.5mm. On smaller pipes (minimum 6"), we recommend working in Pulse Echo mode, using a single EMAT probe.

Circumferential displacement

Whether in Pulse Echo or Pitch Catch mode, the scanner generates guided waves along a tube or plate, allowing inspection of reflections caused by corrosion or defects up to 5 m in front of the sensor(s). Ideal for inspecting tubes or plates where there is no direct access to the area being inspected.
