Industries & Applications

Premature corrosion of a substrate is usually caused by coating failure,

particularly the presence of porosities or other defects, the causes of which can be manifold.

  • Sinking and dripping: the wet coating moves under the action of gravity, leaving a thin dry film.
  • Shrinkage: the coating does not flow sufficiently to cover the voids created by air bubbles released at the surface
  • Over-thickness: an over-thickness of paint causes the coating to crack as it dries.
  • Corrosion pitting: caused by the presence of air or particles (dirt, sand, etc.)
  • Insufficient thickness: areas are not covered or the coating has flowed without covering particular areas of a substrate. In addition, on a rough surface, insufficient thickness can leave areas uncoated.
D266, détecteur de porosités - SOFRANEL
The 266 has been specifically designed to revolutionise DC coating testing, making it safer, simpler and more reliable.
  • Automatic voltage calculation based on coating thickness
  • DC versions available: 5kV, 15kV and 30kV
  • Autotest to check that the test voltage conforms to the set voltage
  • Battery can be charged externally for continuous use
  • Safe start-up to prevent accidental switch-on
  • Visual and audible alarms sound when a fault is detected
  • Voltage adjustment via keypad 0. 5kV - 1kV in steps of 50V / 1kV - 30kV in steps of 100V
  • Special adapter for use with third-party accessories

Features :

  • No need to use tension calculation tables. Enter the control standard and coating thickness, and the device automatically calculates and programmes the correct voltage.
  • Interchangeable probe handles: 500 - 5000 Volts, 500 - 15000 Volts, 500 - 30000 Volts
  • LEDs on the handle to indicate when the device is switched on (red) and when a puncture is detected (blue).
  • Large backlit display for easy reading even in dark conditions. When a fault is detected, the backlight flashes.
  • Simple operation with menu display in several languages
  • Rechargeable battery pack, inside or outside the detector. The batteries take around 4 hours to charge, providing over 40 hours of continuous use.
  • Internal voltage test to continuously check and measure that the voltage generated is accurate, regardless of weather conditions
  • Optional insulated sleeve designed for safe use. Ideal for monitoring pipes and tanks.
  • Voltage adjustment via keypad rather than thumbwheel. Detection sensitivity pre-set manually or automatically adjusted by the device for slightly conductive coatings.
  • Adapter allows the 266 to be used with accessories from other detectors: models 236 and 136; models AP, APS, AP/S1 and AP/S2; models 780, 785 and 790; models 10/20 and 14/20.

Complies with standards: ANSI/AWWA C 213, AS3894.1, ASTM D4787, ASTM G 6, ASTM D5162, ASTM G 62, BS1344-11, EN14430, JIS G3491, JIS G3492, ISO 2746, NACE RP0274, NACE RP04901, NACE RP0188

Scope of supply: D266 detector, lithium battery, spiral cable for probe handle, 10m grounding cable with alligator plug, battery charger, brush probe, shoulder strap, carrying case, manual. The D266 detector does not include the probe handle. Select the handle with the desired voltage.

  • Ergonomic probe design. To prevent electric shock, a safety contact prevents high-voltage supply if the operator is not holding the handle.
  • Loudspeakers on the unit emit a significant “tick-tock” to indicate that the handle is energized.
  • Rubber ribs on the handle provide extra protection for the user, and have been specifically designed to comply with the EN611010 standard.
  • An audible alarm sounds when a spark is detected. The volume is adjustable so that it can be heard even in noisy environments.
