Industries & Applications

Premature corrosion of a substrate is often due to the poor condition of its coating. Pitting, porosity, blowholes or underthickness are the main causes. The resulting repair costs, loss of production and process contamination can be considerable. Early detection of these defects can help to avoid these costs and all the associated disadvantages.

Pitting, porosity, blowholes or underthickness are the main causes. The resulting repair costs, loss of production and process contamination can be considerable. Early detection of these defects helps to avoid these costs and all the associated disadvantages. Principle: This method is used to locate defects in insulating coatings on conductive substrates. The device generates a high DC voltage, which is transmitted to an appropriate probe. When the probe passes over a coated surface, the presence of a defect is indicated by an electric arc accompanied by an audible and visual signal in the device and the probe. The sensitivity of the control and alarms can be adjusted Features: Lightweight 1.8kg Robust and portable Padded protective case Digital display of output voltage and current Available in 15kV and 30kV Optional additional rechargeable battery Carrying case Audible and visual alarm Easy to use Adjustable sensitivity Numerous optional probe options

Applications typiques :

  • Bitumen or epoxy coatings on concrete, such as storage tanks and water treatment plants
  • Enamelled coatings on steel, such as chemical reactors and storage tanks
  • Inspection of insulating coatings on oil and gas pipelines and water supply pipes made of metal or concrete
  • Expansion joints in concrete structures

Accessoires : Large gamme de sondes pour de nombreuses structures

  • Rake-type brush probes for checking large surfaces, available in different widths: either with a conductive rubber strip for light contact, or with bronze wires for greater pressure
  • Standard straight brush probe particularly useful for checking parts with a small surface area or complex shape, and generally for any application requiring low application pressure
  • Encircling spring probes available in diameters from 50 to 1000mm, for checking pipes from the outside. The spring is made of phosphor bronze
  • Extension rods, available in lengths of 250mm, 500mm and 1000mm, can be butt-jointed to enable measurements to be taken in places requiring a long reach
  • Circular brush probes, available in diameters from 40 to 300mm, are used to inspect pipes from the inside Telescopic probe holder handles, available in 2 sizes, 0.6 to 1.2m and 1.8 to 3.6m, are designed to reach remote areas.
