Description
Sonatest has been designing ultrasonic devices for many years with robustness and performance as a priority. The SITESCAN D-50 continues this tradition by delivering these features. Its innovative hardware design allows you to add new features via software updates without returning the unit to the factory.
High resolution beneath the surface, excellent signal-to-noise ratio, and high sensitivity are the hallmark features of a device entirely designed and assembled in Europe.
The D-50 brings pragmatic innovations to make inspection work easier: real angle measurement of your transducers, easy evaluation of transfer losses, advanced thickness measurement functions.
It offers all the tools and sizing methods for both common and specific defects. The D-50 is an indispensable and universal tool that will allow you to perform inspections in all types of industries and countries.
Typical applications include weld inspection, corrosion detection, testing of forged and cast parts, nuclear sector inspection, and general ultrasonic testing.

Reliable, robust, and solid
A design that enables work in harsh conditions and proven reliability are two important factors for an owner of a UT flaw detector. Maximum operability is ensured by a battery that provides up to 18 hours of autonomy at full charge. The device casing is made of materials used in the automotive industry for their shock resistance. The IP 67 standard ensures the device is waterproof even under difficult conditions. Operation in explosive atmospheres is guaranteed by passing MIL 810-G tests. Environmental tests have confirmed the device is fully functional up to external temperatures of 55°C. The Sitescan D-50 and 500 S comply with NF ISO EN 22232-1.
High visibility screen
For all flaw detectors, the screen is a crucial point. The D-50 features a color transflective VGA screen offering excellent visibility in any lighting conditions. Maximum readability is ensured by adjustable brightness and a choice of 9 color palettes including an LCD-like mode with black trace on white background.
Simplicity prevails with an improved user interface and the ability to display the AScan in full screen mode with a single key press. This configuration allows every detail on the trace to be seen.
The TFT screen does not suffer from the usual limitations of LCD screens, such as contrast variations with temperature or contrast loss, enabling the D-50 to operate in all weather conditions.
1) “Corrosion” option: The “Corrosion” option provides access to two major functions in corrosion detection (documented 2-D TABLES).
The operator can easily create a 2D table storing at each location the A-Scan, a B-Scan, a thickness measurement (from previous inspection or real-time), and associated comments.
2) Encoded Bscan: The “Corrosion” software option allows the display of BScan thickness profiles. This can be encoded or acquired at rates between 3 and 10 per second. The BScan can be saved and transferred to a PC and analyzed using UTLity. Most standard wheel or string encoders can be used with the device. A dedicated menu allows encoder calibration.
3) Refracted angle measurement: Fast measurement of the refracted angle is now possible directly in the device. Simply input the generator hole diameter and depth, and the device calculates the refracted angle in the part. This tool is very useful for checking transducers and during calibration.
4) Transfer losses: The DAC curves as designed in the D-50 make it easy to evaluate transfer losses, even on welds of varying thicknesses. These can be added to the reference gain and saved for better traceability.
The D-50 guides you through correct evaluation of transfer losses via its menu structure.
