Protovale 331 Model B

This simple-to-use instrument quickly and accurately determines the location, orientation, and depth of reinforcement bars. With a rugged, waterproof IP65 design and a standard illuminated screen, this device is suitable for harsh environments. The Protovale 331 Model B is an entry-level instrument ideal for users who simply want to locate rebar and measure its depth.
  • Accurate Concrete Thickness Measurement: A large digital screen clearly displays the concrete thickness; visual and audio signals also indicate proximity to rebar.
  • Precise and Easy Bar Orientation Detection: Simply rotate the probe to quickly and accurately find rebar orientation. The Protovale 331 Model B can even locate and measure meshes.
  • User-Friendly: A drop-down menu in your preferred language guides you through the instrument's functions.
  • Convenient Operation: The uniquely designed probe is equipped with four buttons, making it easy to access many functions during measurement.
  • International Bar Sizes: Users can quickly select from metric, Japanese, ASTM/Canadian units, or standardized bar numbers for the USA.
  • 24/7 Continuous Inspection: Each instrument is supplied with a removable battery and charger. When the low battery signal appears, simply replace the battery. Battery packs can be charged inside or outside the instrument, allowing intensive on-site use.
Flexible Design: The Protovale 331 has a wide range of accessories to meet specialists' specific needs, such as:
  • Detecting Successive Layers of Rebar and Meshes: With the drill probe, the Protovale 331 Model B can detect reinforcements or meshes layer by layer or rebar at depths of up to 100 cm (40”).
  • Measurements in Harsh and Saturated Conditions: Using the high-precision targeting probe, the Protovale 331 Model B can measure near edges, corrugated concrete surfaces, or cast concrete slabs. Reinforcements in concrete pipes can also be inspected.
  • Extended Measurement Range: By using the deep-detection probe, the Protovale 331 Model B can measure concrete thicknesses up to 180 mm (7”).

Protovale 331 Model S

The Protovale 331 Model S combines all the features, flexibility, and ease of use of the Model B, plus additional functions, making it ideal for civil engineering and infrastructure inspection professionals. If you want to measure concrete thickness very precisely, the Protovale 331 Model S is a mid-range instrument designed for users seeking excellent measurement accuracy and reasonable memory capacity to record and later transfer values to a PC.
  • Automatic Bar Sizing: The Protovale 331 Model S has two reinforcement bar sizing modes:
    • Autosize: for a quick estimation of bar size with display in the main measurement mode.
    • Orthogonal: a more accurate method to determine the size of unknown bars.
  • Low-Coverage Mode: The sound signal only triggers when a minimum thickness is detected.
  • MaxpipTM Mode: The buzzer only sounds when the probe passes over the center of a rebar, allowing for quick mapping of rebar placement.
  • Min/Max Coverage Limits: Enables programming of minimum and/or maximum limits to ensure concrete thickness is within required specifications.
  • Memory and Statistics: It is possible to store 1,000 individual measurements along with statistics, print them directly via a printer, or transfer them to a PC using the EDTS+ Excel Link software provided with the instrument or the CoverMaster® analysis software.

Protovale 331 Model T

The Protovale 331 Model T combines all the features of Models B and S, with an extended memory capacity of 65,000 measurements, organized into individual batches or combined grid analyses. Despite its enhanced performance, ease of use is maintained through a drop-down menu. The CoverMaster® software, included with the Model T, allows for batch design and immediate inspection. It offers two recording modes: linear and grid, with fully customizable inspection area sizes. Multiple title fields allow for detailed data management, including site and inspector information. Fully customizable inspection area sizes: Unique in its kind, the Model T allows you to define the size of your mapping grid (each square) yourself. Numerous title fields: Each batch contains multiple identification fields for simplified data management, including site name, location, measurement location, inspector and client names, as well as maximum and minimum limits and batch name. An additional field exists for any notes or instructions.

Drill Probe The Protovale series rebar locators are unmatched in precisely determining the location and orientation of the first layers of rebar and transverse bars. No other covermeter can detect successive layers of deeply embedded metal reinforcements or locate pre-tension or post-tension tendons beneath the upper reinforcement layer. When connected to the Protovale 331, the Drill Probe allows the user to locate reinforcements and ties at greater depths than any other instrument available today.Elcometer Protovale Calibration Block This calibration block allows the user to verify the accuracy of their instrument readings. It includes four different coverage values marked on the block.
