Ultrasonic testing

Non-destructive ultrasonic testing is a technique that involves sending an ultrasonic wave through a translator in a material that can be metal, composite, plastic or ceramic and collecting the presence or absence of reflections signals on internal discontinuities in the material (cracks, porosity, inclusions, etc...). This is a density technique capable of locating and sizing the internal defects.

Magnetic Particle Inspection

NDT Magnetic (symbol MT) is a technique based on magnetic fields and/or electromagnetic. It is limited to surface defects but is very interesting inasmuch as it is a general control method, in contrast to ultrasonic or eddy current remaining local control methods.

Penetrant testing

Non-destructive penetrant testing (PT symbol) is a technique based on the principle of capillarity. It is therefore limited to open surface defects and opening (cracks, cracks, porosity, sting... ) but is very interesting inasmuch as it is a general control method, in contrast to ultrasonic or eddy current remaining local control methods.

Eddy Current testing

NDT Eddy Current (ET symbol) is to create, in electrical conductive materials currents induced by a sensor. This is a method of local surface defects detection using a coil impedance analysis materialized on a device display using a Lissajoux curve. Eddy currents can also be used to measure the conductivity of the material, measuring the thickness of non-conductive coatings on a conductive substrate. In this case, using simpler devices with a dedicated display.

Surface

The surface inspection covers all techniques that allow the inspection of surfaces prior to removal of a coating or after. Among the characteristic variables are found to control the surface roughness, hardness, surface cleanliness, the conditions of temperature and humidity, and the coating thickness, the absence of porosity, adhesion, gloss, the appearance and color.

Visual Inspection

Visual inspection (symbol VT) is the simplest and most natural of all the non-destructive testing. It is to observe the surface by means of global like the human eye or by more specific means such as a magnifying glass or magnifying means. The visual inspection allows the detection of defects leading surface (cracks, scratches, porosity, shrinkage, cold drops, lines, laps, laminations, cracks, quenching cracks, deposits, corrosion, deposits, loose parts, tearing, etc.).

Radiographic testing

Radiography is a nondestructive testing method (symbol RT) of obtaining an image of an object through which electromagnetic radiation X or gamma. The image is obtained by a detector which is usually a silver film. This is a comprehensive approach to internal defect detection mainly. Due to the nature of ionizing X or Gamma rays , strict radiation protection requirements apply.
