Fault-finding equipment

The WeldCheck 3 has been designed with operator convenience and efficiency in mind at every stage of the design and manufacturing process. A key advantage of the WeldCheck 3 is its ability to work identically for left- and right-handed operators, thanks to the original “Flip” screen rotation function. What’s more, all the important keys are in the same position regardless of whether the instrument is used in right- or left-handed mode. Its robustness is guaranteed by an impact-resistant plastic casing.

The WeldCheck 3 is also a dual-frequency device. With a conductivity probe automatically recognized by the device, it can be used as a conductivity meter.

As an option, a thumbwheel is available for quicker menu navigation and setting changes.

Easy-to-use “ALL-IN-ONE” menu

WeldCheck features a simple, single-level general menu. Any general menu item can be stored on the function bar (displayed at the same time as the signal) with its own easily recognizable icon, enabling rapid adjustments during inspection. There are 4 operator-programmable positions and a fifth for the last function used in the menu.


To enable the operator to use the device with ease, it also features a multi-function softkey (Screen Erase, Screen Capture, Auto Phase, Auto Load, Screen Rotation, Screen Freeze Setting and Reference Signal). There are also 2 quick buttons for setting phase and gain.
In addition, in full-screen mode, it is possible to display a quick menu with the parameters essential for control (frequency, Phase, Connector, Load, Filters, Gains). All function key settings are stored in setups.

Connectors

Under the protective cover is a USB socket for rapid data transfer and PC control. A μSD card slot for storing settings and data (over 500 with a 2Gb card). The VGA port enables the unit to be used with a video projector.
The WeldCheck 3 works with absolute, bridge-mounted or reflection probes, connected to a standard LEMO 12 socket (like the main equipment on the market). So you can use the cables and probes you already have. It also has a LEMO 00 socket for connecting absolute probes with a simple LEMO00-MICRODOT cable.

Extraordinary autonomy

With almost 7 hours of autonomy with a 100kHz weld probe, the WeldCheck 3 is the obvious choice for long inspection days. The device can easily be used in the field for a full day’s work without having to return to recharge it. Even better, the additional power pack for AA batteries can extend the battery’s operating time by up to 4 hours.

Large color display

The WeldCheck 3 can be used in all types of weather and light conditions. It features a 14.5cm diagonal color LCD screen with 640 x 480 pixel resolution, ensuring excellent visibility and resolution in all conditions. The operator can configure his own choice of colors and display types. Signals can be displayed in impedance plane, time base, cascade or galvanometer mode.

WeldCheck 3 allows you to finish setting several parameters such as Phase, Gain and filters after freezing the signal with all probe types, including rototest.

Galvanometer

To simplify interpretation, the instrument features a split-screen or full-screen galvanometer display mode.

 

Compensation lift off

Automatic Lift Off compensation is a function that compensates the gain so that the same defect is visualized in the same way (identical amplitude) despite a difference in paint thickness.

Trace function

This function displays a previously saved signal on the screen at the same time as the operator is controlling. This enables signal comparison.

Conductivity

Many aeronautical procedures require conductivity monitoring.
WeldCheck 3 automatically switches to this mode when the conductivity probe is connected, and returns to fault-finding mode when it is disconnected.

Dual-frequency

With different settings on the same probe, it is possible to subtract (mix) part of the unwanted signal. For example, a plate signal during a tube inspection. It is also possible to control two probes with two separate settings. Easy to use, with a menu for each channel:
red for channel 1
blue for channel 2
green for the mixing channel
